Central Maryland in Miniature

The Patapsco Falls Division depicts a fictional city, overlapping Baltimore, in 1952. The models pictured here are built by Matt Hankins.

A Maryland native, Matt has nurtured a love of old buildings into a career as a Preservation Carpenter and an avocation as a miniaturist. Inspired by the diverse structures of his hometown, Matt recreates rowhouses, factories and shops in HO (1:87) scale, imbuing them detail and realism. His work has been featured in Baltimore Magazine and has been displayed at local model train events, where audiences are entranced by Baltimore presented in a very small package.
